A word is worth a thousand pictures.
A word is worth a thousand pictures. Yes, really. I know: You’ve heard just the opposite since the time you were trading for Twinkies at recess. And maybe – if you’re trying to describe the aurora borealis or an Oscar gown gone wrong – there are situations in which it’s true.
But when's the last time you went to a wedding at which the happy couple just swapped snapshots of marital bliss? And would you really be happy if your boss gave you a performance review that was nothing more than a smiley face? (Or, worse, a sad one?)
When our thoughts matter – really matter – we resort to words: Vows. Prayers. Laws. And we use words even when matters aren’t quite that important: The rules for Monopoly, a joke for late-night TV, instructions for the proper use of a garbage disposal. Words are still the best way to express ideas and feelings, to establish context and to direct action.
But this is a Web site and not Philosophy 1. If you’re looking for a writer who will listen carefully to what you want to say and find the right words to express your thoughts…If you’re looking for a writer who will capture your personality and respect your audience…If you’re ready for your ideas to cast shadows…you’ve come to the right place.
